Future of work

The world of work is due to change radically over the next ten years. Up to 50% of jobs may be automated out of existence, climate change will challenge the way we work and the jobs we do, and the rising pension age will mean we’re all working for longer. Working from home has become the norm for many people during the COVID-19 pandemic, so what further changes can we expect?

Will a four-day week become the standard? What jobs do we want to do when we’re 67 years old? And is universal basic income the way to make our working lives more meaningful? This panel discussion will explore the big trends in the workplace and what they mean for us all.

Chaired by the Rt Hon Ken Macintosh MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, this panel includes:
